Christiansburg Run Club

An inclusive running and walking club in Christiansburg, Virginia

Runners, walkers, kids and dogs: EVERYONE is welcome.

It's about a lot more than running

You absolutely do not have to be a “runner” to join us. Plenty of us walk, bring our kids, or bring our dogs, and we all end up in the same place: making friends.

Check out our schedule and come join us!

Member stories

When I first moved to Christiansburg I was lonely. The club has made a huge difference to my life. I have met an amazing group of people, made good friends, get out to exercise regularly and am much happier.

Run clubs been a great way to make friends and is a good motivator to run on days when if I were by myself would probably not run.

During the most isolating time of the pandemic, Run Club was everything. It was fitness, friendships, mental wellness, social outings, and more. Today, it continues to provide a community that I didn't know I needed and would find it difficult to do without.

When and where do you meet?

Our full schedule is on the home page. In general:

  • Mornings (usually 6:00 AM Monday, Wednesday and Friday) we meet at 407 Roanoke Street, near downtown Christiansburg. It was formerly Brugh Coffee and a FedEx location, and it’s a well-lit, safe parking lot.
  • Evenings (6:00 PM Mondays and Thursdays) we meet near the main entrance of the Montgomery County Courthouse, just around the corner from Iron Tree Brewing Company. There is plenty of free parking nearby.
Is there walking as well as running?

Yes! Mornings are runs, but each evening meetup includes walking.

On Mondays at 6:00 PM we walk, usually for 30 to 45 minutes through neighborhood streets. On Thursdays at 6:00 PM there is a walking group and a running group, often a dozen or more people in each. We stay together and look out for each other.
